Trip to St. Louis

http://
Here are some pictures from our trip to St. Louis last month. We had a really good time. We stayed busy but were also able to visit family and enjoy our time together. We to the Arch, the zoo and a place called the City Museum. Here is a link to the city museum. It is hard to explain what type of place it is, but it was a lot of fun. Owen's favorite thing was the giant underwear. http://www.citymuseum.org/home.asp It was really nice being able to spend time with James' family.

Happy Halloween

Ok, I've gotten way behind on keeping this updated. Here are pictures of my little butterfly and caterpillar on Halloween. They had a great time. They both liked handing our candy almost as much as trick-or-treat. We are off to school right now. I still need to post pictures from our St. Louis trip. Maybe this weekend....

School Picture

Owen and Maggie had their school pictures taken. They sure are looking grown up. Do you think they resemble their dad at all? Haven't had much to blog about. We have just been busy with everyday life. We are leaving today for a weekend in St. Louis. Should have some pictures from that trip.

Big Girl

Get Ready! Get Set! Oh No!!!

Here are some pictures of Maggie getting her ears pierced last month. She had been asking for awhile to get them done and I told her that she had to wait until she was 5. The day before her birthday Grandma , me and Maggie planned to spend the day together shopping, having lunch and getting her ears pierced. The day definitely did not turn out the way I had planned. Maggie got so upset after the first ear that it took another 20 minutes or so to get the next one. Then she was so upset she got sick and lunch, so needless to say we didn't make it shopping. It wasn't the day we had planned but it was certainly memorable. She is of course fine by now and we have started wearing different earrings almost everyday.
The next day... all better!

Soccer Stars

Owen and Maggie are playing soccer this fall. Saturday was their first game. Owen scored a goal! They both seem to enjoy it. Maggie is also in a dance class at her school now. We have dance on Wednesday from 5:30 to 6 and then it is off to soccer practice from 6:30 to 7:30. I'm sure this is just the begininng of our running around.

Apple Works

http://
Here are some pictures from our adventure last Monday. We went to an apple orchard called Apple-works. It had a lot of fun stuff'! There was a hay pile to climb, a slide coming out of a barn, animals to feed, trails in the woods, and a bamboo maze. Me and Grandma even went down the slide. There was also a small store that sold crafts, candies, ice cream and apples. The apples were delicious!

First Day of Pre-K

Last week was Owen and Maggie's first day of pre-k. They go 3 hours in the afternoon T-F. They both seem to really enjoy school. I hope that continues. Owen told me that is ready to learn how to read. The time sure goes by. I manage to stay busy during the time they are gone. I am waking a mini-marathon (13 miles) in October so I hope to start training while they are at school.

The Big Day

Owen's cake
Maggie's cake. That's her best friend Karissa.

Owen and Maggie turned 5! We celebrated with their friends in our backyard with a "Water Party" theme. They played on the slip-n-slide, splashed in a wading pool, ran through the sprinkler and had a water balloon fight. The weather was perfect. They both said that was "the best birthday ever!" Here they are with the cakes that I made them.

State Fair

We went to the Indiana State Fair yesterday with Grandma and Pappaw. We had a really good time. The kids got to make wooden trains in the 4H building. We were able to see the wood project made by our cousin Caleb from Daviss County. The kids favorite thing was playing farm. They collected eggs, feed the cows and pigs, planted seeds, harvested vegetables, rode a tractor, and milked a cow. At the end they took all their stuff to market where they earned a dollar. They also received free hats.

Grandma's Helpers

Grandma and Pappaw (my mom and dad) put out a good size garden every year. Owen and Maggie like to help pick stuff. This year Grandma had even more help when she kept my niece Mindy and nephew Casey. Looks like she had plenty of help, too bad my kids won't eat anything that they pick.

More Bugs

The grasshoperThe mothBugs bugs bugs!! Owen found a grasshoper one day and then caught a moth a few days later. He made sure that I took a picture of each of his treasures.

Butterfly Garden

Owen, Maggie, Alyssa

We have been staying very busy this summer. Last week we went with my girlfriend and her daughter to the White River Gardens which is attached to the Indianapolis Zoo . The have a butterfly exhibit going on right now. This was our second time to see the butterflies this summer, but Owen and Maggie are fascinated with them. After that we walked along the canal and thru part of downtown. It was a good time, but there was a lot of walking so they were pretty tired.

It is hard to believe that school will be starting soon. Owen and Maggie will be in Pre-K this year. Thier first day is August 19th. We had family pictures taken last weekend, I'll post some after I get them back.

Too much fun

I thought Owen was eating lunch, but I guess he was just too worn out to even eat.

T-ball

It's Owen's first year playing t-ball. He seems to really enjoy it even though he doesn't really get it yet. He sure looks cute. Maggie didn't want to play this year. She talks to all the boys from the sidelines. She has also given Owen a hug or two as he comes off the field. It is cute now, but I'm sure it won't last much longer.

July 3rd Party

Owen with sparklers. Maggie was afraid of them again this year.
We had our 3rd Annual July 3rd Party last Thursday. We had a great turnout of people. We were very fortunate that the rain stopped and we could all be outside. James put on a great display of fireworks.
