First Day of Pre-K

Last week was Owen and Maggie's first day of pre-k. They go 3 hours in the afternoon T-F. They both seem to really enjoy school. I hope that continues. Owen told me that is ready to learn how to read. The time sure goes by. I manage to stay busy during the time they are gone. I am waking a mini-marathon (13 miles) in October so I hope to start training while they are at school.

The Big Day

Maggie's cake. That's her best friend Karissa.

Owen and Maggie turned 5! We celebrated with their friends in our backyard with a "Water Party" theme. They played on the slip-n-slide, splashed in a wading pool, ran through the sprinkler and had a water balloon fight. The weather was perfect. They both said that was "the best birthday ever!" Here they are with the cakes that I made them.

State Fair

We went to the Indiana State Fair yesterday with Grandma and Pappaw. We had a really good time. The kids got to make wooden trains in the 4H building. We were able to see the wood project made by our cousin Caleb from Daviss County. The kids favorite thing was playing farm. They collected eggs, feed the cows and pigs, planted seeds, harvested vegetables, rode a tractor, and milked a cow. At the end they took all their stuff to market where they earned a dollar. They also received free hats.

Grandma's Helpers

Grandma and Pappaw (my mom and dad) put out a good size garden every year. Owen and Maggie like to help pick stuff. This year Grandma had even more help when she kept my niece Mindy and nephew Casey. Looks like she had plenty of help, too bad my kids won't eat anything that they pick.

More Bugs

We have been staying very busy this summer. Last week we went with my girlfriend and her daughter to the White River Gardens which is attached to the Indianapolis Zoo . The have a butterfly exhibit going on right now. This was our second time to see the butterflies this summer, but Owen and Maggie are fascinated with them. After that we walked along the canal and thru part of downtown. It was a good time, but there was a lot of walking so they were pretty tired.

It is hard to believe that school will be starting soon. Owen and Maggie will be in Pre-K this year. Thier first day is August 19th. We had family pictures taken last weekend, I'll post some after I get them back.
